Routes declared for The Red Line Bus, Process Initiation in Karachi
Yesterday marked the beginning of the Red Line Project. In the commencing stage, the Karachi Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) shall connect Tank Chowk (near Malir Halt) to Safoora Chowrangi.
The automobilist traffic has been directed to follow the route of Tank Chowk to Safoora Chowrangi through Check Post No.6. Further substitutes have also been devised since the construction may impact the traffic flow
Substitute Channels
The University Road may serve as an alternate option for citizens traveling from Malir Cantt or the motorway to meet the destination at Safoora Chowrangi. The road is situated side by side or parallel to Check Post No. 5., Malir Cantt.
The automobilists making from the Tank Chowk to University Road may opt for Cantt Road to the road approaching Mosamiyat that leads towards University Road.
Cantt Road is an option for the citizens directed towards Pehalwan Goth from Model Colony or Tank Chowk. The further alternative includes taking the route turning to Habib University Road that may lead to Johar Chowrangi. The drivers may also turn towards Kamran Chowrangi to reach University Road.

Dr. Adnan Qadir, chairman of the Urban and Infrastructure Department, NEDUET, stated that the Red line connects Tank Chowrangi and Safoora Chowrangi via Race Course Road. It is directed towards the destination at Numaish Chowrangi through University and MA Jinnah roads.
According to him the Numaish Chowrangi shall serve as the parking station for the three BRTs specifically the Red, Green, and Yellow lines with a three story parking area.
Numaish is one of the fithe nal destinations for all of the buses. The service connecting Numaish to Merewether Tower is also under consideration.
