Introduction of Ecotourism Village in Pakistan-A new Era of Tourism
Islamabad – On March 2022,
A new era of tourism started in Pakistan with the introduction of first ecotourism village in Kaghan Valley. Malik Amin, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Climate change, disseminated the news.
As per The International Ecotourism Society (TIES), “Ecotourism is the concept of traveling to natural areas with the responsibility to preserve the environment and local habitats. Furthermore, it incorporates the concepts of education and interpretation”.
It was announced that a zero-waste policy will be adopted in the Kaghan Village and to promote environmental conservation, a six-day trek on foot is marked for the visitors.
The project is aimed to abate the adverse effects of the tourism industry on the environment. Furthermore, the project will prove to be a source of educating the local habitats and improving the living standards of inhabitants, Said PM’s Assistant.

The location of the village is also interesting as it is just a two-hour drive away from the historic Monroe Track. A track with 100 years of history, situated in Shankiari, Mansehra, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. A British forester Monroe first marked it. It has been recently renovated by the government and is ready to welcome tourists.
